Have advocates of an ambitious parcel tax to bring the Los Angeles Unified School District district some $6 billion in new revenue over 12 years convinced property-owners to open their purses?

We’ll soon find out as voters within the district boundaries head to the polls Tuesday and determine whether Measure EE passes in Tuesday’s special election.

The proposed tax is the sole item on the ballot in most parts of LA, and low turnout is expected. It requires a whopping two-thirds — or 66.7% of voter support — to pass.

Supporters say they’re optimistic widespread support for striking LAUSD teachers back in January will translate to votes, while opponents say they’re equally confident that skepticism of the district will prevail.
