California to require Covid vaccine for all students, Newsom says

The mandate, the nation’s first, applies to all students in kindergarten through 12th grade in public, charter and private schools.

All California students will be required to get vaccinated against Covid-19 as soon as vaccines receive full approval, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday.

The mandate, the nation’s first, applies to all students in kindergarten through 12th grade in public, charter and private schools. It goes into effect in the first term following the Federal Drug Administration’s full approval of the Covid vaccine for adolescents and children under age 12. Currently, the vaccine has preliminary approval for children age 12 and older.
