Coronavirus: About 6,500 LAUSD students were told to isolate, quarantine last week

About 6,500 students and 1,000 employees were instructed to isolate or quarantine at home, based on COVID-19 testing conducted up through last week, because they tested positive for the coronavirus or had close contact with someone who was infected, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Unified School District said Tuesday, Aug. 24.

Specifically, about 3,000 students and 500 employees were told to isolate because they had tested positive for the virus or appeared to have symptoms, while another 3,500 students and 500 employees had to quarantine due to exposure to an infected person, the district said.

About 451,000 LAUSD students are enrolled in in-person classes this year. The district has about 73,000 employees that are undergoing weekly COVID-19 testing. Click here to read more:
