Neither of their opponents had conceded as of Saturday. Only about 25,000 ballots remain to be counted across LA County
Incumbent Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education President Kelly Gonez has declared victory in her close race for reelection in District 6 against a political newcomer who was determined not to concede until all the votes were counted. In LAUSD District 2, Rocio Rivas has also declared victory.
“After the vast majority of ballots have been counted, we are thrilled that our campaign has won the election. I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to continue the work tirelessly on behalf of the students, families and communities of Board District 6,” Gonez said in a statement released Friday evening. “As we recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, I am ready to build a brighter future for our students with transformative and joyful learning opportunities, holistic mental health supports, and more resources for our staff so that our communities can heal, grow, and thrive.” Click here to read more: https://www.dailynews.com/2022/11/19/2022-elections-gonez-declares-victory-in-tight-lausd-race/
