Effective April 15, 2015, allowable personal necessity absences have now been expanded in Article XI, Section 5.0 (certificated) and Article XIII, Section 13.0 (classified) for AALA members. The added language now allows a personal necessity leave for an event of grave, significant and/or compelling nature that demands the personal attention of the employee during assigned hours. A leave for this reason is limited to one (1) occasion in any school year.
This addition will allow AALA members to attend weddings, graduations and other significant events without having to misrepresent the reason for their absence.
